Internally, Shaderlight uses high-dynamic-range color values throughout. By default, the display output is tone mapped and uses a standard sRGB gamma. It is highly recommended that Shaderlight Photographic Exposure Control is used to give interactive control over the tone mapping.

From the 3ds Max Environment and Effects window, select Shaderlight Photographic Exposure Control from the Exposure Control rollout. By default Shaderlight uses the EV method to control exposure, though this can be switched to use the equivalent photographic settings.
