Background sky .jpg showing through other materials

I’m rendering a perspective of a building that has an asphalt road running in front. The building looks fine, and the grass and water around the building is okay but where my road, which is painted with the generic asphalt material from sketchup, is not there and the background sky image is showing through only in that location. I have given the road a thickness, made sure the material itself is in no way transparent…still not working. When I place the camera directly above the road, it renders as asphalt but from all other angles the sky shows through.

I think what may be happening is the surface of your roads is below the floor level in SketchUp and Shadows are turned on.

To display shadows Shaderlight creates a surface at the 0 floor level in SketchUp. If there is geometry below the level it will not be visible. This can be tested by turning off Shadows ‘On Ground’ in the settings in SketchUp. If this is the case then this can be solved by moving your model up.
