Yes, I admit it… I’m that guy. I need it to be explained to me like I’m a ten year old.
I’m fairly new to Shaderlight, and I’m enjoying using the program, but I’m running into user problems and I cannot figure them out. Yes, user problems… I know it’s me and not the program.
Lighting… I’ve watched the tutorials a few times and I’m still not successful in creating decent lighting renders. Nope, not even decent. Either things are completey black, look like I used grey lights, or look like I’m trying to burn straight through the objects I’m trying to light. A few times I’ve put about fifty lights in the rendering trying to light an 8’ x 10’ area and none of the lights lit anything… no matter which direction I turned them.
Material editor… Again, I’ve watched the tutorials, even read some online help, and while I get it for the most part I’m having issues where the material is rendering transparent when I’ve filled it in with matte/smooth. I’ve double-checked my work just to be sure and it still renders transparent. Sometimes it renders rough when the rough setting is at 0.0. Even after I’ve gone back in and changed the material finish to something else… it’s still transparent or something I didn’t choose.
And there’s some other things I’m trying to figure out that I’m not having any luck with. I looked on Lynda.com to see if they had classes I could take but they only offer classes for Vray.
Anyway, an in-depth user guide would be really helpful.
Maybe it’s because I’m on a Mac… maybe, but I’m pretty sure it’s alllllllll me.
