Shaderlight Exporter

The connection between 3ds Max and Shaderlight can be “lost”, meaning that either Auto Updates no longer happen, or Shaderlight will not launch when Export is clicked. This is most likely due to Shaderlight leaving a process running in the background after a crash or after the window is closed manually. This process can run even without the render window being open and this prevents a new connection being made. The solution is to shutdown any open Shaderlight window, open the Windows Task Manager and in the Processes tab look for any Shaderlight process running. Select the Shaderlight process and click End Process.

Scene changes don’t always trigger an auto update in Shaderlight. To rectify this you may find that a subsequent change may trigger an update. Alternatively you can move an object and then undo the move to force a retrace, or in the worst-case scenario simply click Export again to re-export the whole scene.
