The simple way to network rendering with mental ray

ARTVPS, an industry leader in advanced rendering technology for 3D visualisation, today announces the launch of their flexible and easy to use renderfarm software solution for mental ray®.

RS-MR is a Windows based application that combines the world leading mental ray® rendering 64-bit standalone software with ARTVPS’ own render management interface.  Fully compatible Autodesk’s 3dsmax and Maya as plus Softimage XSI, RS-MR delivers outstanding image quality from the leading 3d applications making it a cost effective, versatile solution for advanced 3D animation and visualisation.

With the RS-MR software, building a mental ray render farm is simplicity itself.  As well as giving complete control over workflow it is now possible to utilize your existing hardware by installing RS-MR on any 64-bit machine running Microsoft Windows. Using the familiar Windows environment, additional software renderers or other production or management applications can be run together with RS-MR.

Graham Wylie, CEO at ARTVPS said, “ARTVPS is renowned for developing high performance rendering solutions, which not only produce great images but are also easy to use.  Since its launch the RenderServer system has proved very popular with design and visualisation companies, looking for an easy way to increase their mental ray® rendering resource. Delivering a fully compatible Windows software version is an obvious next step and will appeal to 3D users wishing to add mental ray rendering to an existing rendering network or to those creating a new render farm with a preferred hardware partner.”

mental ray® 64bit standalone is a fast, high-performance renderer for generating photorealistic images from .MI files exported from 3D applications.  RS-MR is a fully licensed, standalone application running independently of the 3D host and controlled via the MI File Manager, which removes the need for command line control of the rendering tasks.
