ART Releases RenderDrive Software V2.5
Increased functionality to RenderDrive?s RenderMan interface, 3d studio max/VIZ plugins among new included features.
Advanced Rendering Technology (ART) today announced the shipment of Version 2.5 of its RenderDrive 3D rendering system software, bringing a new level of functionality to users of the company's advanced 3D rendering solution.

Among the new features included with Version 2.5 of the software are upgrades to RenderPipe MAX, RenderDrive's seamless interface to Discreet's popular 3d studio max and 3D Studio VIZ - new features include improved sampling of area lights and custom camera shaders. The camera shaders can be used to create specific camera and lens descriptions, such as camera lens for IMAX, architectural cameras, or other special-projection formats. An improved transparency model has also been added with the software upgrade, as well as improved filter, falloff in/out, subtractive and additive transparency models.

Version 2.5 also includes substantial additions to RenderDrive's RenderMan compliant interface. RenderDrive, and its RenderPipe RIB interface for generic RenderMan RIB files, now offer support for RenderMan displacement shaders, deformation blur, and include enhancements to RenderDrive's RenderMan Shading Language compiler, such as faster code compilation, and better macro support within RenderDrive's pre-processor. RenderDrive's RenderPipe RIB interface provides integration of RenderDrive within a generic RenderMan environment, and can be used to interface RenderDrive with any RenderMan compliant application, such as Side Effects Software's Houdini.

RenderDrive's RenderPipe MAX and RenderPipe for Maya plug-in interfaces offer 3D Studio VIZ and 3d studio max users seamless access from within their program to RenderDrive's advanced features, including high-quality, ultra-fast ray tracing, physically-based materials, real-world lighting, and accurate camera options such as depth of field and lens effects.

With its custom-designed, ultra-high performance ray-tracing processors, use of a standard rendering language, and unlimited user access, ART's RenderDrive advanced 3D rendering system makes short work of the intensive rendering process, providing a highly flexible, intuitive, and controllable 3D environment. RenderDrive is a compact and easy-to-use rendering system that incorporates state-of-the-art custom processors and software with plug-in integration to popular 3D design packages.
