ART VPS Ltd., a maker of
hardware-accelerated 3D visualization systems, has named Brian Tyler as
chief executive officer (CEO). ART VPS systems are used to speed rendering
and improve image quality in diverse fields such as product design, graphic
arts, marketing and advertising, architecture, and entertainment production.
Tyler was previously CEO of Cambridge Animation Systems, an animation
software company whose products were used to produce such feature-length
films as Prince of Egypt and Iron Giant. During Tyler's tenure, Cambridge
Animation won a Queen's Award as an outstanding U.K. company and pioneered
new technology for merging 2D and 3D animation.
Before joining Cambridge Animation, Tyler helped launch SoftImage 3D
animation software in the U.K. and build the company's worldwide reseller
channel. He has experience designing 2D drafting and 3D modeling systems,
and has worked as a technical, sales and marketing director for film and
video special effects companies in London. Tyler has a degree in cybernetics
and computers from the University of Kent.
"My job is to help build a company that has great technology, but has been
underexposed in key markets," says Tyler. "Once a potential buyer sees what
we can do, the advantages become clear. The ability to produce visually
realistic images in the fastest time possible is proving to be a
differentiating factor in a wide range of economically important
industries."
