ART VPS now supports two PURE cards in one system
CAMBRIDGE, UK, September 27, 2004 – ART VPS Ltd. announces support for running two of its PURE PCI cards in a single machine, delivering a new level of ray-tracing performance on the desktop.
Dual PURE support provides access to 16 AR350 ray-tracing processors within a workstation, providing power previously available only through ART VPS’s RenderDrive system or renderfarms using multiple computers over a network. Rendering is distributed automatically among the 16 chips by ART VPS’s RenderPipe plug-in software for 3ds max, Maya, VIZ and Catia applications.
“It’s a tremendous advantage to have the speed and convenience of all this dedicated ray-tracing technology in one machine,” says Andrew Whitney of Hot Knife Digital Media Ltd., who tested dual PURE cards. “It has big benefits over managing a renderfarm and definitely simplifies and speeds my rendering workflow.”
Existing customers can take advantage of dual PURE support by upgrading to the latest version of ART VPS’s RenderPipe software.
About PURE and RenderDrive
PURE and RenderDrive incorporate ART VPS’s modular ray-tracing architecture, which accelerates 3D rendering by distributing it across an array of chips. The systems generate full-frame previews in seconds, and give users the speed to take advantage of advanced 3D rendering features such as multiple area lights, accurate 3D motion blur and depth of field, secondary illumination, HDRI lighting, special RenderMan shaders, and physically based materials, lighting and camera properties.
