The translucent preset allows you to create materials that allow light through, but are not totally transparent. You can control how reflective the surface of a translucent material is from the finish and how transparent it is using the SketchUp Opacity slider.
Thin_Dull – refracts light through a face as if it were a thin sheet of very slightly reflective material |
Thin_Shiny – refracts light through a face as if it were a thin sheet of smooth material with some reflectivity on the surface |
Thin_Reflective – refracts light through a face as if it were a thin sheet of polished material, so you will see strong reflections off the surface as well as seeing though it |
Thick_Dull – refracts light as if going into a solid material. It will only refract again (coming out of the material) if it passes through another translucent or transparent face |
Thick_Shiny – refracts light as if going into a solid smooth material with some reflectivity on the surface. It will only refract again (coming out of the material) if it passes through another translucent or transparent face |
Thick_Reflective – refracts light as if going into a solid polished material, so you will see strong reflections off the surface as well as seeing though it. It will only refract again (coming out of the material) if it passes through another translucent or transparent face |
Liquid_Dull – similar to the Thick_Dull finish, but it uses a slightly lower "refractive index", so the light bends less than Thick as it's refracted through the material |
Liquid_Shiny – similar to the Thick_Shiny finish, but it uses a slightly lower "refractive index", so the light bends less than Thick as it's refracted through the material |
Liquid_Reflective – similar to the Thick_Reflective finish, but it uses a slightly lower "refractive index", so the light bends less than Thick as it's refracted through the material |
