The RenderDrive 6400 series has been developed using custom hardware alongside our dedicated ray tracing processors to deliver a powerful, flexible and reliable rendering environment that can be used independently or operated as a dedicated render farm.
RenderDrive has a TCP/IP Fast Ethernet network interface enabling the appliance to be accessed by multiple users. Its web based job shceduling and management tools takes rendering load away from 3D workstations enabling users to continue modeling tasks without the burden of background rendering. A RenderMan compliant scene-data interface provides an industry-standard interface that is application independent.
The RenderDrive 6400 is available with 16, 32 or 48 AR350 ray tracing processors. Ray tracing performance increases with the number of dedicated processors you have available however an ideal configuration will depend on a number of factors including the number, size and format of jobs and users accessing the renderer. It could be that a number of smaller specification RenderDrives could prove a better solution than a single 48 chip. Up to 8 RenderDrive units can be linked together to give the ultimate ray trace rendering performance.
