Students gain design advantage with ARTVPS

Education establishments are embracing leading-edge technology from ARTVPS, an industry leader in advanced rendering technology, to educate designers and engineers of the future.

Architectural, automotive and product design & visualisation courses are investing in ARTVPS technology to equip students with vital rendering skills to advance their careers in 3D.

As the only 3D rendering hardware technology of its kind, ARTVPS RenderDrive® provides students with a powerful, flexible and reliable rendering environment to develop their design skills. With a TCP/IP Fast Ethernet network interface, RenderDrive® is a networked renderer that enables the appliance to be accessed by multiple users, making it ideal for use in the classroom.

One university already investing in RenderDrive® is the University of East London. Students on the MSC CAD Architecture course are using ARTVPS technology alongside Maya from AutoDesk.

Joanne Harrison, Simlab Manager, at the University of East London said: “The plug-in workflow and speed of RenderDrive® makes it an ideal solution for our students. As part of the University’s network, students have access to the renderer from anywhere on campus. It’s extremely popular and in addition to architecture students, RenderDrive® is also being used by some multimedia and game design pupils.”

Harrison continues, “Learning how to model is what students will find most difficult.  The simplicity of ARTVPS’ Renderpipe® plug-in, and its close integration with 3D software, means students don’t have to spend time becoming rendering experts. The additional camera and lighting effects available through RenderPipe®, give students the tools to get exactly the right effect without having to fake it. Student’s particularly like to use Renderpipe’s® additional shaders, giving them the ability to render realistic glass or reflected materials.”

Brian Tyler, CEO at ARTVPS said: “As a specialised ray tracing solution, RenderDrive® enables students to render photorealistic images from their 3D models with minimal effort.   Our hardware raytracing technology is being used in the real world to create high quality images required by architects, product and automotive designers. It’s crucial that students entering these sectors experience what can be achieved first hand. RenderDrive’s® support of leading 3D software packages makes it an ideal solution for design courses across the country and a real investment in the student’s future.”

Together with ARTVPS’ RenderPipe® for Maya plug-in; RenderPipe® MAX for 3dsmax or VIZ or RenderPipe® Catia software; RenderDrive® completes a very high performance network-based 3D rendering system.  Also available is PURE – a PCi-X rendering card for personal workstation rendering.
