AV5.5
The focus of this release has been improved lighting features for architectural interiors and greater control of the final image – both vital to achieve photorealistic results!

Neil Evans, Company Director at e3D interactive said: “The new lighting solutions incorporated within AV5.5 are what e3Di, as an architectural visualisation company, has been waiting for and has made creating photorealistic interior visuals and animations much easier. The new box light creates amazing light distribution within rooms, and combined with the redesigned HDR skylight, we are able to render noise free images in minutes.”
Summary of features:
Photo-real lighting – fast!
Area Light Fall off
To provide realistic fall off for lighting interiors it’s vital to alter the relationship between the distance and intensity of lights. RenderPipe now includes linear fall off in addition to no decay, quadratic and cubic fall off in both RPMax and Maya.
RPBoxLight
Exclusive to RenderPipe this new light feature has been create to help render realistic interiors. Often an AreaLight was employed to light room interiors but with the draw back of objects close to the light bleaching out white. RPBoxLight is set to have no fall off by default and therefore is a simple way to represent ambient light entering a room.
HDR Skylight
The established skylight feature has been improved to provide users with an easier to use interface in both RPMax and RPMaya. The addition of a light manipulator tool provides greater control over positioning and orientation, reducing the time it takes to set up a HDR scene.
Image Control – post process
New output formats
It is now possible to render 32-bit floating point TIF and 16-bit floating point OpenEXR output formats giving the user additional control over manipulation of the rendered image for example alteration of exposures as a post process effect.
Rendering Shadows
It is now possible to render shadows as a separate layer. This new feature gives the user greater flexibility in the composition and editing of the final image to achieve realistic results.
in addition...
Renderpipe material RPMetallicShiny has now also been incorporated in to the Max interface allowing it to be easily combined with other materials.
